May 30 : We drove up to the Columbia IceFields (where we rode a massive bus out onto the glacier), and then up to Athabasca Falls. We were gone all day, and on the way back, the mountains at night were gorgeous.

May 31 : Today we rode a gondola up Sulphur Mountain, just outside the town of Banff, and enjoyed a hike over to another peak, then a warm lunch. Later, we came back down, then hiked over to Stewart Canyon - along the way, we saw several big horn sheep.

June 1 : This day we rode the Lake Louise Gondola to the top of some mountain, where we spent over an hour in the snow. After lunch, we went over to beautiful Lake Louise and traipsed around that lake. A mother bear had been spotted earlier, so we were on the lookout!

June 2 : We drove up highway 1, to Peyto Lake and Moraine Lake. We stopped for lunch in Lake Louise. Along the way we did get to see a Black Bear and her three cubs. Unfortunately, a Ranger wanted us to keep moving, so I barely got one photo of a cub.

June 3 : Headed up scenic 93, hiked one of favorite hikes, up to Lower Johnson Falls! Then we were so fortunate to see a train go through the Spiral Tunnels. After that, we went to Emerald Lake, and finished up at Natural Bridge.

June 4 : Stayed near Banff today, first hiking Fenland Trail, then riding along the Vermillion Lakes, where we saw geese and two Bald Eagles! Then we went up Mount Norquay for a great view of Banff, and a visit by a dozen Rams. That night, we went to see the new Harry Potter movie.
